The Spanish telecommunications giant accepts bitcoins


Telecom company Telefónica recently partnered with cryptocurrency exchange Bit2Me to allow its customers to pay for services using digital assets. The news was confirmed by the telecommunications company. The Bit2Me cryptocurrency exchange, according to the official announcement, is supposed to provide all the infrastructure and oversee all transactions. Customers will be able to pay their bills and use services in several cryptocurrencies.


Clients of Telefónica can use bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin or stablecoin USDC to pay. Bit2Me also works with a number of other Spanish companies that have decided to accept cryptocurrencies. Telefónica is not the only major company in Spain that accepts cryptocurrencies for goods and services. Recently, the airline Vueling also confirmed the acceptance of cryptocurrencies for payments. Spain is among the leading countries in the adoption of cryptocurrencies. At the global level, Spain ranks 34th in cryptocurrency adoption according to Chainalysis.
